Self
"why cain't yew never paint sump'n purty, like flaaars?"
I showed it to one of my moms and she didn't think it looked like me.
But that was before I added the background. You can tell it's one of mine by the ingredients:
Phthalo blue
ALL the rainbow
an umbra
dots
stars, regardless of whether they're needed or not
The upper lip part is how I really look, but can be interpreted as an homage to Frida if you so choose.

Thoth's Hourglass
My friend who cuts my hair and my Mom's hair does so in exchange for paintings; she asked for one to include her zodiac sign Scorpio and and a reworking of the Death card from the Thoth tarot deck
which looks like this
So I set about to produce something with a similar color scheme
As a reference, a teaching model of the birthing process, (swear words not included)
Given to me by one of my favorite persons who was a nurse about such things and many more, a storyteller, and I believe I am using the term correctly, Woohoohoodiwoo Woman.
Here's what I came up with...still not entirely sure it's finished.

Christmas Card for the whole Internet
Tis the time of year when tis acceptable to say Tis (so much easier than it is)
and also the time of year to mail bits of paper and glue at the people I like.
Anyway, some of the best people I've met live inside my computer.
If not for you folks I'd feel utterly alone and abnormal in this weird world. You know who you are.
Rather than stalk after you in real life, I'll just post this.|
Merry Festivus, Happy Hanukah, Joyous Yule.

Saradwyn Does Dali

To Be Carried All Unwilling Into A Nameless Future
Dali has always been one of my favorites, and not just for the moustache. He imported many of his paintings from the faraway land of Hypnagogia, summoning dreams into wakefulness with the chime of a falling spoon.
He was utterly and unapologetically absurd and made a living at it. Quite a talent in itself.
Those are definitely my feet, solid and earthen, though my toes are less mandragorean.
Those are my toothbrush-splatter stars, which find their way into damnear everything lately.
Those are my snapping pennants, because the future is a grand place.
"It may be that when we no longer know what to do,
we have come to our real work
and when we no longer know which way to go,
we have begun our real journey."
Wendell Berry
...which I found at another favorite blog, Donna Watson's Layers

The Pursuit of Joy
This may not be the final iteration, but it's a good point. Pursuit with outstretched arms is the heart of Joy; Joyfulness at rest is contentment and I'm not sure there's a fruit for that. Maybe rice pudding.
The rest of 'em:

Into Battle!
sometimes it's best not to look
a stand-in for the Queen of Swords.
Because being absurd is sometimes easier than being brave, and more likely to confuse one's adversaries.
I actually painted this several years ago, in prognostical anticipation of my recent promotion: Oracle of the League of Outa-Space
I shall now direct my energies towards constructing the appropriate Funny Hat to announce my New Place in the World.

The Vanities (nekkidness warning)
A theme from last year's experiences: false friends.
The Crows are kinder; if they pick one's eyes out, we may be shocked, we may be disgusted, but we are not surprised. They are exactly as they should be, they behave as expected, without apology.
A cautionary tale - take notice of the people and situations around you. Trust your instincts. Don't die on the wrong road, lost, but within sight of your own Castle.

If I were doing art for a Tarot deck, this would be the Hanged Man.
anyone who thinks it'd be a good Tarot deck is invited to share how that can be accomplished...
