The Crows are kinder; if they pick one's eyes out, we may be shocked, we may be disgusted, but we are not surprised. They are exactly as they should be, they behave as expected, without apology.
A cautionary tale - take notice of the people and situations around you. Trust your instincts. Don't die on the wrong road, lost, but within sight of your own Castle.
If I were doing art for a Tarot deck, this would be the Hanged Man.

I was listening to Between Earth and Sky by Rhea's Obsession and heard the phrase "As above, so below". It's not the first time I've come across it - it's also a song by the Tom Tom Club. Anyway, I looked it up (see here). It seems The Magician card in the Rider-Waite tarot deck is demonstrating the concept.

Isn't that a good one? I've got the bones of a Trickster Rabbit story scattered about in which he descends (via Rabbit-hole) from the World Above into the World Below, and makes messes and acquires Wisdom and physical form and other disconnected and rather hackneyed elements...

Reading your discription put a different spin on this for me. Just looking at it, which I enjoy very much, I see the harpies plying her with jewels and showing off their fancy plumage to make her forget her bondage. But the crows...now they are looking at that rope and the knots saying "Hey, your all hung up there, girly. Want some help?"

DeleteI like that it's open to interpretation. It's my best painting yet, I think. Not because of skill or anything, but because wherever you are in the room, the 3 sets of nipples follow you like eyes: )
